My prenatally exposed child is very vulnerable, naive and impulsive. She thrives on attention and "friend"ships. Yet she doesn't know what true friendships are. When she asked the Holy Spirit to become a part of her life we found she was given the gift of internal guidance she lacked in her thought processes. God promises the Fruits of the Holy Spirit which are the exact pieces our prenatally exposed children so desperately need. (Galatians 5:16)
Fruits of the Spirit
joy
peace
patience
kindness
goodness
faithfulness
gentleness
self-control
The Holy Spirit has been the beacon and lighthouse, guiding her away from disasters and building within her experience by experience an honoring lifestyle versus and life of dishonor.
Honor
Thankfulness
Helpfulness
Cheerful
Sensitive
Calm, controlled
Courteous, respectful
Listening
When she is faced with situations that are dangerous she gets a burning feeling over her heart. One day she came to me wondering if something was wrong with her and I told her it was the Holy Spirit helping her to stay out of trouble and when she feels that feeling she should flee. The Holy Spirit is gentle, though her own choices are honored she has an internal signal warning of danger.
"When I am faced with FAS feelings I take a bite of the fruit I need to get me back on track. Mom it's just like eating only I think of peace or joy or self-control."
It is not hard to ask the Holy Spirit to come into your life. All you need to do is say sincerely
"Lord Jesus I would like the Holy Spirit to become a part of my life and be my helper and comforter. Amen."
This feeling has provided the safety and structure she has needed to remain safe as a vulnerable person in a dangerous world. We can rejoice in the Lord's goodness.
