I used to think my child was lacking in many areas....and then
I realized what an honor it was
that she truly knew in her youth something it took me over 40 years to
discover.
"She could not do life by herself but was
dependent on the
Lord for even the basics. She sought His counsel in
prayer and He has remained faithful in His answers."
Many prenatal exposed persons have limited amounts of independence. They struggle with maintaining a life on their own and often fall back on support services from relatives, the criminal justice system, mental health system or social services.
Jesus never expected us to walk alone. He uses the concept of "yokes".
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, and I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden light." (Mathew 11:28-30)
In years past oxen were yoked together to share the load. Jesus makes the promise to share our load and work beside us.
We need to be encouraged by this "tandem" or supported independence. We need to develop systems of coaching and mentoring to allow supported independence for our young people. My hope is that within these pages we can provide ideas of success for your family and others. The Lord doesn't expect us to walk alone...and there are many times in parenting prenatally exposed children I have had to be carried.

We can rejoice in the Lord's ultimate guidance and freedom. It is easy to ask to be hooked up to the yoke Jesus uses. And who better to walk along side you in difficulties.
"Jesus, I need your
help,
I want to be yoked with you in my life and learn from your teaching."
